L.E Wilson 6BR Seating Die Problem

Terry

Gold $$ Contributor
When I place 105's on top of a 6BR seating die the case will not go all the way into the die.

Trapped air?

Put the bullet in the case neck before placing it in the die.

At least this is what was happening with me using a Wilson seating die with my 284.

Have you full-length sized your brass? I have one 6BR that's a bit oversized at the shoulder and unless the case is FL sized it will not go in the Seater. And yes I use both Berger and Lapua 105s.

old die..!!!

Hi Terry....either your chamber is too big...reamer wallowed it out,!!! or maby...some of the old/early Wilson dies were manufactured for the old Remington dims...!!! they were a lil smaller at the base line (.200 ) and may even have the chamber cut at 1.520 +/- a lil".....if so run your reamer in the die and bring it up to date...or use a small circle of .020" +/- wire in the die base to shim the die up a lil....is this a new chamber or new die...how did you seat before?? ....it works fine (trust me I know ...hahaha)....Roger

I had the same problem with a Wilson seater die in 6ppc. Worked fine with my original chambering, but when I had a new chamber cut (different reamer), cases would not fit, after sizing. I sent the die back to Wilson, with 2 empty as fired cases, and for a nominal charge they recut the seater die body. Works fine now.
