Kowa TSN-82SV vs TSN-88 Prominar or TSN-99 Prominar

I am setting up for shooting longer distances, 1,000 yards and occasionally 1 mile. I want to get the adaptors to use a DSLR camera body to stream video to a tablet to spot shots. I have a Kowa TSN-82SV.

Before I buy DSLR adaptor equipment specific to the TSN-82SV, should I consider stepping up to a Prominar? Specifically a TSN-88 Prominar or TSN-99 Prominar.

I probably won't have anyone to spot for me so I will record video and look for the shot. This will be on gongs.

There is a 70X eyepiece for the 99 and 60X eyepieces for the 88 and 82 and a 1.6X extender for each as well as an adaptor for a DSLR and a Nikon camera.

Thanks!

prominar would def be a nice step up. Have you thought about just using a smartphone with a phone skope adapter?

I have a kowa 883 with the new te80xw eyepiece I use with my iphone 15 pro max with phoneskope adapter and it works wonderfully.

here is 800/900 yards, then some clays at 1,050 yards (foggy conditions).

I also have the 1.6x extender but the 35x is plenty when you factor in the 2x optical zoom on the phone.

Steve,
I have the 883 with a 1.6 multiplier if you want to look through it. Just let me know. I don't always take it to MRPC. But can arrange for you. I kind of quit taking once I got the Majesta. I use it at 600 regularly though.

i second that, if you are ever in central PA come on over and try mine

Or just buy the LR Target camera, Easier to setup, small and it comes with an app. so you can use it with a phone or tablet. It marks the shots and labels them like a shot marker and you can measure the group with the app. Just a thought, don't have to worry about a $2500-$3500 dollar spotting scope with a $1000+ camera and other equipment blowing over in the wind. I have seen it happen more than once with just a spotting scope let alone all the other added weight the camera adds. Just something to consider

They have several to choose from up to 2 miles, they also make a spotting scope camera with WIFI and an app.

they are cool but pretty limited application compared to the versatility of a good digiscoping setup, specifically hunting applications.

Yeah but he was talking for shooting at the range. Plus not too many people are packing a DLSR camera in there pack while hunting. The phones do work great for digi scoping while hunting and the KOWA TSN 88 or TSN 99 PROMINARS are the pinnacle. I have a TSN 66 Prominar, which is easier to pack and its a phenomenal scope.

i'm not sure about the capability of the LR target cam system, but using my phone. I can record and play back my misses instantly in slowmo and see exactly where the shot went.

the shotmarker-esque capability of measuring group size and all that is a very neat feature on that unit.

The TSN-883 or 4 are fantastic for spotting ELR
25-60x eyepiece is plenty.

I use a phone cam setup on it and a bushy tactical T to get pics and video.

I`m old so I have 77's made into big eyes. But still an answer to the original question, Swarovski all the way. They them with Arca rails and MOA or Mil reticles.
