kowa spotting scope

I'm thinking about buying a Kowa TSN-82SV spotting scope to use in f/tr. Would like some advice on which eyepiece would be best to buy with it. I've seen alot of shooters using them. Thanks.

Did you observe what eyepiece(s) those shooters were using? A fixed power, other things being equal, will get you a better image quality than a variable. A variable will be more versatile, at the cost of a bit of image quality. LER (long eye relief) is much easier to use than shorter eye relief. Meaning, you won't have to squash your eyeball or shooting glasses quite as close to the eyepiece to see the image.

If you're simply trying to see the spotter discs, then 25x-30x will be plenty. If you're expecting to see bullet holes, then you might want higher power, but the viewing conditions will need to be nearly perfect regardless, once you get past 300y.

Or, get a fixed and a variable eyepiece, like I did. (I use the fixed a LOT more...) 8)

Then I suggest a good pair binoculars you'll be money ahead.

I have the 25X and the 20-60X and almost exclusively use the variable. Much handier and clarity and image quality with the variable is excellent on the Kowa

I use the 27XLER eyepiece. For me its perfect for watching mirage, trace and scoring for F-TR. I can observe 6 targets at 600 yards and roughly 10 at 1000 yards (depending on target spacing).

I use a 30X wide angle. It has better eye relief than a variable, the best image quality, with the widest 30X field of view. I think fixed power eyepieces are underrated.
