Konus spotting scopes

Read over old posts and saw recommendation for Konus 20-60x80 probably model # 7120 was pretty good spotter with very clear view

Are these good rugged spotters or kinda cheapo?

Im still shopping. Kinda been looking at Vortex sandpiper 15-45-60,,Might want more power), and the Vortex Impact scope also

How do you like your Konus if you have one?

Rick

I had one and was pretty pleased with it inside of 300. At 300 it could not show holes vs. lines in the HBR target. For a plinker kinda guy it works great.

I like mine very much. Other shooters that have Kowas tried it and were very impressed. It is not a Kowa but I could see 223 holes at 300 when the light changed.,My friends Kowa could not see 223 holes either until the clouds moved). It is very clear compared to my old champions choice. I use it for reading mirrage for f-class and 1000 yd steel matches. For the price I have not found anything close. I can spot hits on steel at 500 meters from a 223 easily. Several shooters that tried it thought that it cost in the $400-500 range. The tripod is kind of crappy and the case it comes in is so so. Mine came with a camera adapter that is nice. Shop around and they can be found under $200. I think Champions choice have them on sale.

Is the Konus 7020 Plastic or eye piece plastic or plastic parts??

read a review that it had alot of cheap plastic parts???

Rick

The adjustable positioning ring is plastic and the front sunscreen is plastic. I will have to look when I get home. I don't think the eye piece is plastic.

Talked to a guy at http://www.blazingbasinsupply.com/ and he was quiet helpful with info about spotting scopes and the konus.

Said they sell alot of Konus 20-60x80s

Rick

60x magnification comes in quit handy every once in a while.
I use a Swarowski 20-60x, which I bought used, but they are still expensive. I kinda doubt if I would spend the same amount on a spotting scope, it's cristal bright etc, but a lot depends on the sun; wheather conditions who would allow you to see bullet holes at longer ranges; starting at 300yds. many times the spotting scope is useless, especially in sunny conditions.
