Kiosk mode for tablets?

I was wondering if anyone has messed around with using tablets in a 'kiosk' mode - where the tablet is locked down, and all it can do is display the browser in full-screen view. No tabs, no address bar, no menu, no options. Basically turn it into a dumb terminal, that the end-user can't f$ck up.

I see a few apps in the Google Play store... not sure if there's anything equivalent for iOS, etc.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious.

Not looking to turn it into a digital Ft. Knox; just want to minimize the amount of buggery that some of the more technologically inept users can cause. Dealing with users that don't know what an address bar is, or have never done anything but click on links - or that don't even know which app on their (or any) device is the web browser, much less how to re-open it or navigate back after they fat-finger their way off the page for the target.

You might check with Adam about what he does on the tablets he sells. He states that the clutter has been removed and set up for the ShotMarker. I have seen iPads set up in restaurants for ordering that I think are are locked to only use one app.

You need to setup "administrative" and "user" accounts with passwords for access. This is always step one. Even if someone maliciously wanted to screw it up (teenagers), they will be presented with a prompt either asking for a password or denying them. Step 2 would be to research "kiosk" type applications. We used to deploy an application in hotel business centers that would not allow any changes to be made; after reboot, everything would revert to the way it was on "saved state". I don't apple, so i'm no help there, but the concepts are universal.

Ios has a kiosk mode. I haven’t messed around with it, but it doesn’t look terribly complex.
