Kimber

Can any of the learned gentlemen on this forum help with a technical question? I would like to know the tenon length, diameter and threading of the barrel on a Kimber 84M (Yonkers).

Thank you in advance.

I'd guess that maybe no one knows offhand. I wasn't able to find the answer via Google easily, so I am guessing it's not that common. Did you try calling Kimber?

Seems like the source would be the logical place to start: http://www.kimberamerica.com/contact

It sounds like you might be trying to rebarrel yourself. If that is the case you will be removing the old barrel in any event. Mark the barrel and receiver, remove the barrel and measure the specs you need. You can grease and replace the barrel as long as you line up the marks you made to assure your headspace remains the same. Actions wrenches and barrel clamps are available from Brownells/Sinclair, Midway, to name a few.

Not planning to do it myself, but, if I knew the dimensions, I might be able to find a used barrel from a larger action that my 'smith could salvage. There are some quality used pieces on this site for reasonable amounts of money.

On another note. Might it be reasonable to bore my exsisting .308 barrel to .338? I think the .338 Federal is a cool idea.

Its not the best solution as reboring the barrel cost money but you are still left with a factory barrel. A SS match grade barrel is between 300 - 350 and the machining labor for the tennon, chamber and crowning is the same for either.
