Kimber Montana rebarrel

I want to rebarrel my Kimber Montana 223 to a 17 Remington keeping the Kimbers factory contours the same and would like some barrel brand and twist recommendations. What would you use? Thank You! David

Why not just send it to Kimber for a duplicate barrel in the caliber of choice and have all the original factory markings on your new barrel?

They don't offer a 17 Remington chambering. I have rebarreled a couple Kimber's and I have bought Bartlein barrels and used Buddy at iTD to contour the barrel to Kimber specs. If you don't want to get a barrel he can do all the work with a Douglas premium barrel. Here is the website:http://www.itdcustomgun.com

You should get a 9 twist for sure,PacNor is one of my favs,that offer a 9,as far as I know Shilen does'nt offer a 9 just a 10.
Lilja makes a nice product if you get a good one,good luck if you get the odd bad one.Douglas is one I have'nt tried yet.I wish Bartlein would make a 17 Barrel,cause that's what I would buy.
Have fun with the 17,you should try some of Todd Kindlers 30 Golds also.

Check with Pac-nor and Shilen as I believe they offer custom contouring to match factory shapes. Have it made in stainless and have it glass beaded and you should be good.

Load a light bullet in it's 223 bbl. and it will do the same things a 17 will.

Shop for a .17 already made if you must have one.

Maybe Sako makes a .17?

There are more than a couple people selling new kreiger and bartleins abd brux barrels on here so you could get one without waiting.Savageguy or something like that always has a selection.Someone will chime in about this to help you get started.Check midway as they have shilen and an assortmant.

PacNor already knows the Contour of the Montana's already
By the end of next week so will Brux as I am sending them three to use for duplicates (84M, 84L and 8400)

Brux will not do a Kimber Montana contour in stainless. It appears the 'Cut Rifle' guys are a little bit afraid of cracking around the chamber area.
Lilja also has 84M and 8400 Montana contours in their system

Rock used to make them but I don't even know if Rock Creek is still in business as they don't respond to e-mails nor answere the phone Their web site refers all new orders to Bugholes.com (since 2012) which is completely out of Rock barrels
