KG12 Big Bore Cleaner

About 3 weeks ago I got a suite of the KG products to try them and I've been pretty impressed. The KG12 is fine, however, I still like to use Wipe Out for my copper cleaning. I use the KG 1 to get rid of the fouling, first, then the Wipe Out,with accelerator) then KG Gun Oil,which I like a LOT.) I've tried about every commercially available cleaning product and like the KG stuff. My all time favorite carbon cleaner is M-Pro 7, but the KG 1 is as good. I've still got 1/2 gallon of Slip 2000 Carbon Cutter and was not impressed.

I also have a Outer's Foul Out III for electrically removing copper. My cleaning regimen is either to get a step done NOW or to start a step and leave it for an hour or more. I'm not one that can leave a product in the bore for 15 minutes. That's probably why I use Wipe Out or the Foul Out III for copper. I started the Wipe Out process yesterday, then went up stairs to watch the NASCAR race, took a nap and then cleaned up. Just for drill, after the Wipe Out I put the barrel on the Foul Out just to see if any copper remained. None, nada, zilch.

Oh, between steps, in order not to co mingle chemicals I swab the bore with Birchwood Casey's bore scrubber. And, I do not use any abrasives of any kind, and do not use only nylon brushes.

Sorry for the length...you asked what time it was and I explained how to make a watch!

I have tried every copper cleaner that has come down the pike. I also have the misfortune to own and use a borescope. I say misfortune because I too used to think that whatever cleaning routine I was using was getting out the copper. Then I started looking using the borescope- copper and carbon was what I found. I am also a fan of the Wipeout method and I think it gets the bore clean enough. I usually resort to JB paste to polish off the last remnants of copper and carbon fouling down to the bare shiney metal. Recently I tried the KG-12 copper remover and was very impressed with how fast it removes the copper. One of the obstacles in bore cleaning is that copper, carbon, moly and powder fouling can be in layers. That's why I start of with the Slip 2000 carbon remover or MP 7. Patch that out followed by several wet patches of the KG-12, let it soak for 10 minutes and patch out,the copper on the patches is brown)
That usually does it. If the borescope still shows fouling, I go to the JB paste. In my experience, the carbon and the moly fouling are the hardest to conquer, the KG 12 softens the copper so much it patches right out. Anyway, that's what I'm doing now-at least until the next great copper remover comes down the Pike.

I, too, think KG12 is great, it removers copper faster than anything I've used in the past.
I noticed a fine print stated on the bottle it shows "Incase of contact seek medical treatment immediately", I didn't see it at first and I did get some on my hands from removing the cleaning patch, jag & brush etc, I didn't notice any skin irrtation as I did wash my hands soon I was done cleaning. However, I woke up the next day with a really bad headache, not sure it's anything related.

I have gotten the cleaner on my bare hands several times with no visable effects.. Just the same, I will wear gloves in the future!

HipShot,
BMG50 is the best stuff I have ever used. The only thing I do not like about it is the very strong smell, it will knock you out. I try to use it at the range outside mostlly...

I've used a lot of the KG products and they all seem to work better than anything else I have tried.

I've gotten KG-12 on me tons of times with no noticeable effects, but when I get KG-3 on my skin I get a flush comparable to a huge adrenaline rush. I don't think it's good, but maybe it's cleaning out the plaque in my veins lol! :- \

I'm basically immune to most natural environmental irritants like pollen, dust, bites, etc, but very sensitive to man made stuff like bug sprays, plastic fumes, etc. Although KG-3 gives me a rush, I don't feel bad after it settles down like I do with other things.

I agree with all the other lovers of BMG 50 COPPER KILLER THERE IS NOTHING BETTER. I can stand the heavy smell if it get the copper and carbon out. And Montana Extreme COPPER KILLER gets it all out and leaving it in the barrel for a couple of hours will not damage your barrel as it is oil base.
