Kelby action in 1/16x16

I was thinking of getting an atlas lite, but then realized their actions are all x18 threads. Anyone know if they would they make an action in x16 thread? I have a few remage barrels i can use on it.

You would have to call kelbly, but I doubt they would

Keep in mind, all of these actions are produced on CNC machining centers with dedicated programming. They would have to alter their CAM program to do a 1-16 instead of a 1-18.

But it’s worth a call.

If you don't get the answer you're after, sell those remage barrels and have UrbanRifleman on this site make you some barrel-nut barrels. He does Kelbly threads and has a good reputation here..

Just get a Kauger. I mean the Kelbly Atlas is nice, but honestly the Kauger Arms pretty much has it beat. And it is Rem 700 threads.

Kauger (at my urging) now has a Rem 700 bolt head available so it's completely Rem 700 prefit nut barrel compatible.

Nothing against Kelbly's, at all...but why does this require a specific gunsmith to accomplish? Many accomplished smiths on this board can duplicate a Kelbly tenon(or other) with a different thread pitch. I fail to see the problem here.

Your the only one who brought up a gunsmith i think. Im trying to reuse the 5 or so remage barrels i already have and wanted to give the atlas action a try since I heard good things about them and ran a few rounds through an atlas tactical

You're right. My apologies. Good luck to ya. I guess a Remington action would work with your Remage bbls. Im sure you're looking for a different answer though. BAT used to do some customs around different tenons but I doubt they'd do it now. Might be worth asking them though.

Then you have to prove the program, use different tooling, inspect it(which would also require different inspection tools) and warranty it.

Yep and then someone buys that action second hand and wonders why they can't get any of their other kelbly barrels to fit. Good call.
