Keep or flip? 185G SWC FMJ .45 bullets...........................

A fellow reloader had this sealed bag of 1K bullets for $80.00 so I thought I would help him out by buying them. I have no idea who made them and he doesn't remember as they are at least 20 years old. Any idea's from the gallery?
TIA,
Bill

I have some of those that a friend gave me. They only fed from a particular magazine in my 1911, and I had to play with OAL.

My 1911 feed ramps were lightly ground and polished to allow feeding of semi-wadcutters and some other hollow points that others in my group were using, so I could use their ammo if I got in a tight spot.

My 1911 feeds semi-wadcutters , HG #68, etc, like a dream but it struggled to feed those bullets.

I believe I'll keep them for now. 6.5 gr of #5 with an OAL of 1.170 and cycles fine in my Springfield RO. Using a flimsy MTM rest at 25 yards, 15 rounds in a B-8 pistol target.

Extractor, breech face, magazine, and recoil spring along with the feed ramp all play a role in how a 1911 will feed ammo with different projectile profiles other than 230 gr FMJ.

Those are not plated bullets. A true jacketed bullet. And a very accurate bullet assuming your pistol is up to it.

You forgot ammo geometry :)

Extractor tension and breechface were good. Recoil spring had recently been replaced. Feed ramp fed everything else including LSWC, truncated, and HP.

It was the length of the feed lips on the magazine.

Try 4.2 WST in cases with tbe same headstamp.
Win crimp to .469/.470.
Fed crimp to .470/.471.
Rem, TZZ, IMI crimp to .468/.469.
Brands have different wall thickness & the crimp needs to be adjusted for optimum accuracy.
I run 3 different wadcutter and 2 different hardball 1911's in the bullseye game. Testing this load resulted in 2" and under 10 shot groups at 50 yards in my Ransom rest.
The bullet looks very similar to the Remington 185 SWC's I used to use. Very accurate bullet.
