Kahles K525 vs Zeiss LRP S5 5-25

I have found What seem to be great deals on a couple of upper tier optics and am curious as to pros/cons of each that I may not have thought of. Has anyone had hands on both and have any insight?

I can get a brand new Zeiss LRP S5 5-25x56 for $2,999. That's a grand off, so not shabby.
They also have a Kahles K525i with the left windage for $2,799.

Is either too good of a deal to pass up?

Please share your thoughts. Thanks!
J

No experience with those specific models but I've been a fan of Kahles for a long time. Swaro bought them out several years ago. I think they did so because Kahles made an equal or better product for a ton less money. Swaro commenced to raising the Kahles prices shortly after buying them. Probably a smart business decision but one where the consumer lost out. A lot of people have never even heard of Kahles nor realize that they are the old scope maker in the world.

I don't own either scope, but, I had the opportunity to look through the Kahles K525i outdoors on a range a few months ago. No question it's great glass and I really liked the reticle. I thought hard of buying one but the budget just couldn't spare the pain..........

I will be going to check it out in person soon, maybe they'll let me take it outside and actually look at some things at real shooting distances rather than looking at the jacket rack 200' away haha. The main appeal for me is the left side windage, that just seems like more intelligent ergonomics, but I usually hold for windage and dial parallax so it may not be that much of a benefit?

I've owned six different Kahles K624i scopes for use on my PRS rifles - only reason I ever sold one was when someone bought one of my used rifles and wanted the scope on it badly enough to pay the price I was asking. The 'glass snobs' over on Snipers Hide bitch & moan about the CA of Kahles glass, but it's never bothered me, and I love shooting behind one of the three K624i scopes I still have. The knobs have clear & distinct clicks - good enough to make it easy to take one click if that's what you're after. I've seen & shot with other, higher-priced German scopes like Schmidt&Bender with click detents so fine that I found it practically impossible to get just one click. Whatever - I love my Kahles scopes, but am happy enough with the older 624i models I have so that I haven't tried one of the newer 525i models, nor the even newer K328i models.

I have a Kahles 5-25 along with two of the 6-24s. They are incredible scopes and will always consider them when needing new glass.
