Shooting at the UBR Nationals on Saturday 200 yards, 3rd match/target and I blow a neck on my 30BR (I didn't notice), no big deal, still shot a 10, loaded another round and it wouldn't go in all the way so I lift the bolt and pull the bullet!! Powder everywhere, range master sees my dilemma and comes over and states "you have 4 minutes!" another shooter ask if I need air, YES! I take my brass brush and insert it into the muzzle and knock the bullet out, then insert the brush into the chamber and pull the neck of the brass out ("you have 2 minutes") I concentrate on the trigger area to make sure it's clean as I can get it, ("you have 1 minute") work the bolt and it's okay, chamber a round and shoot a sighter, it's good, then to target (I have 2 to go), Eleven!!! Center punched it!! ("15 seconds") last one was a 10 but after all that I was pretty happy. My buddies come over and "man, you were pretty cool under all that pressure!" I said naw, I'm that guy that ran into the burning building while everyone else ran out, that's pressure! I just wish the last target would have been better but conditions were, well, conditions! Did shoot a 62 on that target.

Shooting thin necks and being heavily into the lands for years I have learned this. First chase all the helpers away but 1, keep the rifle level, take your time your clock is now your best friend, NO compressed air as it is a great way to blow powder down into your trigger, remove all the powder you can with chamber and lug tools before knocking bullet out then reclean powder out, good to go now. If your really prepared put a piece of masking tape over the trigger opening before anything and no powder can get in there.

Those are great tips and really appreciate it especially the tip about putting tape over the trigger I do carry Blue painters tape with me at all times

Take a long neck grill igniter and burn the powder out before it can find its way into your trigger and really screw things up.

Have you done this with a full powder load of powder in the chamber? Oh, thinking on this i suspect a good portion of the powder came out with the brass case. ??

I would use my chamber/bore light to check how much powder there is if I would do it at all.

No not a full charge. Some stays in the brass case especially if the shooter has the forethought to tip the muzzle up a bit. Then put masking tape over the trigger opening in the action and blow out all you can with canned air. Then burn off the few grains stuck in the bolt recesses due to grease. Works fine.

Lol, won't be your last time. Worse thing that happens is some helpful person grabs your rifle and stands it up on the butt. That's a recipe for disaster.
You are correct sir I just hope it never happens at the Nationals again

Never tried the lighter trick. I do just lay my finger over the trigger cutout to keep powder from getting in there rather than tape but tape is a good idea too

Ya done good Frankie. Keeping your composure when something goes wrong is the key.

Lighter trick sounds good. Well, until some idiot does it with an open case of powder halfway out of the chamber. Never under estimate the lack of common sense. But I am lsughing. I will still not allow canned air near me. I have taken several triggers aparts and cleaned for guys from using canned air.

One thing I'll point out, I knew I had pulled the bullet so before ejecting the case I held it to be sure it didn't throw more powder out in the chamber. I think this was key to being able to continue shooting!

I'm shooting this same gun after changing barrels to the 6BR and thought I'd better check that trigger just to be safe! Took it out yesterday and found 3 grains of powder on the sear, opened the Bix"n Andy up and was still clean inside but sure glad I did clean it, a little peace of mind!
