3 hrs? I ran 100 pieces of .17 KB through my viking tumbler with a capful of lemishine and 2 cubs of hot water 30 minutes later they were clean

How clean was it when you started? 30 min's for reasonably clean brass is about right. 3+ Hours for scabby old range pickup or milsurp may be more the norm.
As for doing it right? "Right" is the method that gets the results YOU want.

I'm not worried about it. It's not a race and I am not seeing any brass shavings even after overnight tumbling.
Getting the primer pockets clean is still going to take more than 30 minutes.

I am doing a batch of 6BR brass.
With my pins and Thumbler, Dawn, and Lemishine I need 4 hours minimum to get the primer pockets sparkling clean. 5 hours is completely clean.
I see no damage to the case mouths at all. It seems very gentle to me. I could run them over night and sleep like a baby I think.
