Just getting started in br any suggestions on front rest low end and work my way up

You can melt some lead and fill the leg cavities of a Caldwell Rock front rest. Can't remember how much the legs took but it was pretty significant. I did mine and my neighbors. I ended up with a different rest in the end, but it was a good cheap upgrade until the new rest was possible. Hope that helps.

Let me explain myself further... You buy a decent rest get it just the way you want it, but it just needs a little something else... You sell it and lose money.. Step up another notch do the same thing with the same results..Loose money AGAIN... finally decide to spend the money and go with a high end top of the line rest (SEB best shooting platform you will ever shoot from my opinion only).. you don't like shooting BR anymore, you will only loose very little or break even on the initial investment.. Keep and eye open and see what happens to one on this site when it comes up for sale..

Bald Eagle is hard to beat for a first rest. Saddle them up with a Protektor bag which fits your stock, a Protektor rear bag and you are gtg. Actually I think BE rests right now can be had for less than a Caldwell - and you are getting a decent rest designed by a BR shooter which has been used in BR competition ( and won with) for close to 30 years. The Caldwell is a cheap copy the BE slingshot without any of it's attributes. I would not recommend putting out $1000 + for a coaxial rest from the gitgo. The coaxial rests are not every ones cup of tea.

my seb mini is awesome. i have wasted more money on caldwell junk, sinclair lightweight and other rest evolving to this point than i spent on the SEB.

If you don't want to throw down $1000+ for the mac-daddy of rests I understand. I put it off from the time SEB released the Neo till about 3 months ago. I started with a cheap Midway rest then moved to the Caldwell BR. From there I bought a Bullets.com Slingshot. I was trying to save money.......ha ha ha We spend thousands on our rifles, bullets, brass, primers, loading equipment, shooting mats, wagons to put all of it in, motel rooms, steak dinners, etc etc.. and then short cut our support equipment. It just doesn't make sense to me to spend all the money it takes to compete, drive hours to get there, shoot poorly then go home pissed off cause we lost. Well I came to my senses and I then took the plunge and bought the SEB Neo. I haven't sat down and totaled what I have spent before the SEB but after buying the rests and all the "additions" necessary to shoot off them and stabilize them, and now after owning a SEB, I'm still asking myself "Why did I wait so long?" Make sure you are serious about your sport and if you are, don't waste your money and time on lesser equipment.

I didn't want a high end rest because my shooting will be at the low end! I will never shoot BR or any type competition. It works just great for me. I just use my rest to sight in/work up a load and then it goes back on the shelf. I bought a BE Slingshot and paired it with a Shade Tree Engineering top end.

Cost/low end is a relative term. Caldwell, hopped and such are low end, Sinclair, bald eagle are such are mid range, SEB, Farley and such are Cadillacs. you will be we'll served with the mid range rest and it's a great one to use. A few years ago I bought the SEB and really like it, that being said, the thought never crossed my mind to get rid of my Sinclair. I use it a lot for load development and shooting factory rifles. The SEB isn't we'll suited for round or semi round bottom stocks

Look into Ransom Rest. I love mine, as it is sturdy and does an excellent job.
