Just finished sorting 100 Hornady 6mm ELDM bullets

Used a Sinclair/Brownells hex nut comparator and digital gauge on stand. Sort into bins based on 3rd digit. Here's what I got:
1-0
2-6
3-19
4-41
5-16
6-11
7-4
8-2
9-1

I dont remember enough statistics to do anything with this. The gauge is supposed to be +/-0.001".
I plan on loading 15 rnds of the sorted bullets of one dimension and 15 rnds of another box of unsorted. Shoot 3 shot groups and see what happens.

Load as you described. Then measure CBTO of loaded rounds for variance in seating depth. I would expect, unless all brass is annealed properly, that there will be enough variance in the "bullet hold" (in honor of Fguffy) neck tension that these carefully sorted bullets will not all measure the same length. If it were me I would lump 3, 4, 5 and 6 together and move on. The others set aside as either sighters or waiting for a sort of the next 100 bullets.

Using new brass that I ran thru a Forster FL sizer with expander ball. Lightly chamfered inside neck. Never shot these 108ELDM bullets before in my 6BR. Really just doing as an experiment. I got a dozen rifles and I have always sorted bullets and never done a comparison to unsorted bullets. Kinda surprised at the spread on the sort but I guess I should not be. Most of the time I order bullets in 500count boxes and check 10 and if they are 0.001"+/- I quit checking.

shot a load of 30.5 varget under these bullets and it's too hot for my gun a 1.686"CBTO. Shot 3 three shot groups anyway of the sorted. So-so accuracy. Not BR accurate. First 3 shots of unsorted bullets went into the same hole. I stopped there. Will pull down the rest and lighten the load and try again.

Shot total of five 3 shot groups of sorted and five unsorted and the sorted showed tighter groups overall but both sorted and unsorted gave me 1 almost 1 hole 3 shot group. Inconclusive but I will continue to sort all my bullets that sample measure over +/- 0.001.
