Junebug brought his new Alex Wheeler 6 BR AI over to break in the barrel, fireform some brass, and work up a load.

Bat Drop Port
Wheeler 4 inch rudder stock
8 twist

He was loading on the bench. Fireforming loads were super accurate. First time I fired the rifle I took out a thumb tack at the top of the target paper. He was breaking the barrel and cleaning every few rounds.
Notice tack removal at top

Bottom center and bottom right group were full AI loads

Bug was set up to reload on the bench

I notice on the loading bench what looks like a spray can of Kroil and no other cleaning products on the bench. Is this all you use to clean when breaking in a barrel? Just wondering, not trying to start a fight. dedogs

I use Bore Tech Copper and JB, then when finished I run one patch of Kroil through the bore.
I am not sure what Junebug is using along with his Kroil.

Do you follow with a dry patch after the patch of Kroil?

How about the JB, is it the finer polish JB or the regular grit?

Just looking for tips to use, thanks.

I leave a light coat of Kroil in barrel for lubrication of a clean barrel. I read that you need this for first bullet down clean barrel.
After that you have a carbon lube. (just what I read somewhere)
As far as I know, I use the regular JB paste. I was not aware there was a choice

I now have my 6brAI reamer from PT&G and am looking to purchase a 30" SS 1 1/4" dia barrel. Will have the barrel threaded to mount in my Savage 6br bench
rest rifle. It should be interesting to compare the br to the brai.
