Windy Windy Windy
The National Weather Service forecasted a windy day, they were spot on!!!!
The last target of the day eliminated 9 of the 11 brave souls that showed up for the Heavy Gun match. WOW!
Most of the 9 had one round blown completely off the target....... earning them a DQ. Yours truly was among those disqualified. I did not see or feel the pickup at all..... it was blowing about 16-20 with gusts in the 25-28 range. Make no mistake, it was very BREEZY.
We did manage to keep most of the targets on the target stands and most shots on target, that's a real victory for the conditions we had! Thanks to everyone that showed up.
Roger Hightower and Jerry Bush are the only two competitors who successfully kept all 5 rounds on the target in the Heavy-Gun match, congratulations gentlemen. Jerry was shooting his 284 Winchester F-Class rig for the match..... he was watching the weather and was prepared for the wind. Great shooting Jerry! Roger, was doing a marvelous job steering his Dasher in these very challenging conditions, great job Roger!
Tom Stiner shot the small group for the day, a 1.625" group in those conditions is impressive indeed! Nice Job Tom!!!
Jerry Bush won the Two-Gun contest. He really his 6 Bra and his 284 tuned really well, congratulations Jerry!
We rounded up some 4-H kids (three of my Granddaughters) to help with target duty...... preparing for the big match in Oct.
Yesterday was their first day helping and learning, they did well and we hope they decide to stick around and give us a hand. Maybe some will decide to start shooting with us soon?
Joni Brown won the "Closest to the X" contest with .184, Congrats Joni!
