John's mom is back and golden!

Hey guys it's John's mom. I haven't been on here much, not because John isn't shooting, but I felt bad I couldn't do the silver /gold upgrade. It just didn't feel right to pick all your brains without helping the cause. Good news is I got enough for gold. Now on to guns.

John had a rough senior year with Covid canceling everything. He made JO Trials, but canceled, his 3p air CMP postal was top 10, but canceled. Looking at college but he is studying aviation and you can't do that online so he took a gap year. He is getting his private pilot license in a private club, and shooting daily. In Oct he tried out for the Smallbore National Drew Cup Team in IL. With the gun you guys got him. He placed 3rd in try outs buy a bull to make the team, but in finals he placed 2nd. Below is a nice article about it. John is in the back row with the blue CMP sweatshirt. Then Dixie Double where he shot a PB 593.7. Best of all we got to watch Katie Z make finals. God she is so good and nice. So 2 weeks till WAG in CMP Ohio. John now has a heater to help practice longer now that winter is here. Consistently in 95-97 range paper international standing so he continues to improve 3-4 pts a year. It's mental now. Not letting the 9s get to you.

Even though I've not posted, I have kept reading the posts, and I've kept all of you in my prayers throughout these trying times. I wish all of you the best.

Paula

I was think about you all two days ago.. I wondered how things were turning out since covid threw everything a little crazy. The gap year will help John grow as a person so I think it is a good thing for him.. I should have taken a couple gap years then maybe I would have finished.. lol..

Grow? He is over 6 foot now. Lol. Seriously he is doing good. Ready to take his written FFA exam, then he will solo. Prob get his private by spring.

Good to hear from you guys. Keep on keeping on - overcoming, adapting, innovating. All of this is like $$ in the bank that can be drawn upon for a lifetime. Proud of the family that is making it happen.

My wife said she enjoyed visiting with you in Anniston. Tell John to keep up the good work. It’s sure fun to watch the progression, isn’t it?

Your daughter is a beast. She never even flinched as she hit 10 after 10. John is doing very good, but if he gets 7 or 8 10s in a roll he tenses up, then hits a 9 and all is good. The mental side of this is more important than the physical by far. Your wife and daughter are just very nice people, you have done well. Hope to bump into them again. John is scheduled to be at camp Perry for WAG, is your daughter going to be able to make it. Take care of yourself
