John update for his "Uncles"

So last week was disastrous in Phoenix. John had a target problem which got in his head, and he couldn't shoot a fish swimming in a barrel. It's just maturity and inexperience, but it hurts. So with that out there here is the good news. He finished 2nd overall, and 1st in individual not on a qualifying team for the State CHAMPIONSHIP
3p sanctioned by CMP. That punched his ticket to CMP regionals without having to place in the postal, but in the postal he was 10th in the nation, so either way he is regional bound. Still waiting to see if he makes the cut wit JO qualifiers. Cross your fingers, toes and everything else.

I also shot some senior pictures of him.. I thought you all might like them. Photo_1580757774983.png Photo_1580759431821__01.jpg Photo_1580668177545.png Screenshot_20200211-233102__02.jpg

A wonderful young man, you should be very proud. I think he is doing very well. I think the mental part is the hardest part of the shooting sports. Once you learn that part there is nothing in life you cant accomplish.
God bless you and your son

Happy for both of you. You have worked hard to get there.
The small “head” issue is what one learns from;). Easier to learn from others experience, but when it happens to self we tend to remember. It’s over and done with so don’t let it be a “ghost” down the road.
This is one of those “do as I say not as I did” things, been there done that myself.

That's GREAT, Fingers and Toes are crossed. Where did you guys shoot at in phoenix, I'm in gilbert about 30mi east, I might of came and watched.

He shot in Navy Nationals for JROTC, it was a one time thing. I stayed home and watched live scores. I knew he was off, and wanted to just hug him and tell him it was all right, but that was 1200 miles away. It sucked for both of us.

We are very proud of what he is doing! We are honored to have played a small part in his success. Both of you all are doing great.. Keep up with the updates. And remember no one can be on top of their game each match.

Thanks Steve. I think this is harder on the parents because we can't do anything to help them when they have a bad day.

One of the problems is John was shooting on a team of four so he as #1, and the #2 shooter were working to help #3&4. However, they didn't want to listen or work to get better. With that said Gunner told John today that he appreciated John and #2 trying to mentor 3&4, but with 1 match left in the season it was time for them to focus on themselves. It made me proud that John tried to show leadership and team work, because I truly believe you learn from teaching, and the only way you get through life is by helping your fellow man. I'm glad some of my preaching is sinking in.

Take care.

Paula

Up to a point you can't but you have for the last (enter John's age here) years and will be into the foreseeable future.

Gunner seems to be one of the mentors that every person should have in their life. Sounds like you helped gunner also after last Decembers dust up.

Take care.
Paula

YOU are still my hero!
