Jewell Trigger VS. AR15

I put a Jewell trigger in an AR-15. It was my first trigger job of any kind. If you have any mechanical dexterity and logical mind, following the instructions is a snap. I had some tight tolerances in the trigger housing area of the AR so I fiddled around a bit. It's been in about a year and no problems. I just clean and lube it with a light oil.

The first time, it might take 1/2 hour.

The second time, it might take 15 minutes.

Don't oil them, just clean them with lighter fluid...

I really like the ones in my lowers!! :D

Chuck, you might want to check out some of the AR-15 specialty boards or one of the High-Power boards. I've seen quite a few negative reports on Jewell's for AR-15s. That's not to say the trigger is bad, just that a lot of people had problems. It seems the Geissele is the preferred trigger.

I like the Jewell on the bolt gun but their AR trigger is pretty much WORTHLESS. To install the Jewell AR is the easy part but adjusting one to feel right is the worse nightmare. My biggest problem with the Jewell AR trigger is it will not hold the same break for more than 10~20 rounds and for me, if I set the pull weight to where I want it,1.5lb) it double almost every time.
I will 2nd the Geissele, best money I spend and worth every penny. Geissele is a 2 stage and I have the "Match" trigger set, the first stage take-up can be tuned, bend the spring)to silky smooth and the 2nd stage can be adjusted to breaks almost as a BR trigger, the best part, it's impossible to get it to doulble.

Then you either got a bad one or didn't install it correctly or buggered it up somehow in the process.

I have 3 of them and they're fantastic. easy to adjust and the pull weight stays consistent. NEVER had it double.

I have a Jard in my ar and although the trigger is nice it sometimes doubles. Where do you get the geissele as I have never heard of them.

It's just the same 2 pins, can't imagine not installing it right. The problem I had is you can never completely take out the creep without having it 2x, the pull weight stay fine. The instruction is not the best, but Jewell is friendly and try their best help me over the phone. I also had the hammer catching on the firing pin a few times where it didn't reset. Could be a bad one, don't know for sure. But I was not in the field testing mood, I needed one that works at the time.

Chuck, I've got the Jewell trigger in a Colt Match Target lower. A couple of things I remember was that the pins had to be reinstalled with their grooves on the right side since the springs they capture hold the pins in. My Colt lower has minimal width for the trigger group and it was a bugger to get the springs and keepers in the right place because of such tiny tolerances.

Buzzbee, as for creep, since it's a two stage trigger that creep may be the first stage. Otherwise there may be something wrong with the unit.

Adjusting the trigger took some time but was easy to accomplish since everything is sitting upright with direct access to the screws. I found it both interesting and informative to learn how the different adjustments affected the trigger release. As I mentioned in my earlier post, this was the first trigger job, installation) I'd ever done and I learned a lot about sear engagement and how trigger weight were accomplished.
