Jewell for hunting?

My next gun is going to be on a bat action. Im wondering what you guys recommend in the way of Jewell triggers for hunting? Top safety/bottom safety??? Its going to be a heavier more stationary gun.

I use them on several rifles, and love em. My personal preferance is to have them on the top right side same as the Rem 700's. Even my Mauser conversions have been altered to have the safety there. Just makes it easier to change rifles and all the operation is relatively the same.

If the rifle is subjected to dust, pollen, etc, then keep a can of lighter fluid handy to flush it out with if it starts acting up. WD

I use a Jewell for my Rem 700 338 Rum , antelope , deer , elk rifle , alias " long range rocket " . It's a top right safety , and the trigger is set at one pound . With a bottom right , I would not feel comfortable wearing gloves setting the safety and then unsetting it , but then there's always time to take off your gloves? That is if were set at a pound and not four pounds , then why buy a Jewell if you're not going to set it at a pound or less ?

thanks LCazador that was my main concern. And all my centerfire triggers are set at a Lb or just under. 2 savages and a 700, all set by me 2. Probably sick with top right.

Bottom safety is not a good idea for a really light hunting trigger. You will shoot down through the woods before you mean to.

Unless you already have a stock/action without the cuttout (top right) no reason to even think about bottom safety.

My "Proper Deer Rifle" is a Rem 700 in 6.5x284. Jewell trigger, top right, just like the factory. I have mine set at 8 ounces. No problem here in Missouri, where I sometimes have to wear light gloves to keep my fingers warm. I still have excellent feel for the trigger and no concerns that it will go off before I want it to. Of course all my buddies say it is way too light for hunting, but I love light triggers. I can lightly tap my trigger with a gloved hand, just don't touch it hard until you want it to go boom.

None of my bench/hunting rifles have a safety, all use Jewell`s.

The safety is the operator leaving the rifle unloaded until ready to shoot.

My carry hunting guns also wear Jewell triggers and all have the top safety on them.

Phil.

All of my Remington's hunting rifles/pistols have OEM triggers set at 2lb(colder here in AK than lower 48 states)
All of my Remington 40X match rifles have Jewell HVRTSBR-A trigger groups set at 1Lb.

All the above have bolt release levers & safety levers.
The safety levers are not used,I lift the bolt handle for the ultimate safety function.
