Jewel trigger shoe?

I have a an old Remington 700 ADL, no letter prefix on serial #, that I'm going to do a build on and want to replace the stock trigger. I have never owned, or seen, a Jewel trigger before and I'm wondering if they have a wide trigger shoe like the stock trigger does? I really like the feel of that wide trigger shoe while shooting thats why I am curious. I see the Rifle Basix ERV-3 model trigger is advertised as including the wider target trigger shoe. Is that trigger worth considering? As always, any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Mike

The Jewells have a pretty thin trigger, and they do not supply a shoe for them as far as I know..

Does shilen offer a wider shoe? I own a narrow one but I am not sure if their newer triggers may have a wide shoe.I have found them to be very good triggers .

Thanks for the replys! I'm just a fan of that wide trigger shoe. I here Timneys have a wide trigger shoe but, they don't adjust down far enough to suit me. I'll have to do some researching and find out who makes a good replacement trigger for the Remington 700 with a wide trigger shoe.

RJ in Texas had a line on trigger shoes for the Jewell's a year or so ago..
I got one of them, and never thought to inquire bout them..

Thanks Preacher! RJ and I have messaged back and forth on here before, reguarding 22-250 loads, so I am comfortable approaching him about one of those trigger shoes. Thanks again!

Dan, having never felt a Jewel trigger I have nothing to base it on. Perhaps I will buy a Jewel trigger, shoot it for a while, and if I don't like the feel of the narrow shoe I'll see about getting a wider one from whoever RJ is getting them from!

you dont want a wide/heavy trigger shoe on anything (except maby a shotgun) ...the inertia adds to the flywheel effect(strings shots up-n-down the paper).........Roger

Thanks for the input Roger! Now that I think about it, Jewel produces their triggers with all things considered in mind. They ascertained that particular design to be the best so who am I to say otherwise? Thanks again!

Regarding the Timneys, did that include the Calvin Elite ?

It is my "understanding" that Timney will set a desired trigger weight on the Calvin from 8oz - 2.5 lb if 3lb is not desired.

I don’t see a need for a wider shoe on mine. My triggers are set so low, by the time my finger feels the trigger the shot is already on it’s way.;)

If anyone needs a Jewell shoe, I have one I took off a used one. I have 4 Jewell triggers and a Bix comp. It's hard to get use to the wider trigger on the Bix. My buddies are the opposite. The narrow Jewell feels weird to them. It's what your use to I guess.
