JEWEL 2 OZ TRIGGER & LIGHTER FLUID

My trigger wash is two drops of Marvel Mystery oil to one
ounce of Isopropanol alcohol, pure. Heet will work. Just don't
use any water diluted brands. I never thought of using naptha
and do have some on the shelf. I may put one drop of MMO to
one ounce of naptha..

If you use anything other than lighter fluid, you
stand a chance of attracting dust that will cause the problem.
No oil or WD 40 and by all means a GOOD bore guide. Do as
Arnold Jewell said, and your trigger should live a healthy life.
This is a case where the wheel DOES NOT need to be reinvented.

If the lighter fluid, charcoal lighter fluid, naptha, or mineral spirits has "lubricants" in it, it's a contaminate.
They can come from various sources but are not added to the solvent. All these solvents are chemically similar, being aliphatic hydrocarbons. The differences are evaporation rate, boiling point, and flash point.
If anyone cares!

Chris

I believe they are aromatic hydrocarbons but we don't have to get off into organic chemistry to flush bore cleaner out of a trigger. I use Walmart flammable brake cleaner.

And carbon buildup in a barrel isn't carbon, but various compounds LOL!

Brush up on your chemistry, they are not aromatic hydrocarbons, they are aliphatic hydrocarbons.

Excellent reply!

My 25 year old Jewels get flushed once a year with lighter fluid. Guns get shot a lot. Even on occasion for groundhogs. Never 1 problem. I will stick with lighter fluid.
