Jamison Brass?

Jamison Brass? ???
Is any one using this brass for the 30-06? And how does it compare to RWS or Lapua? I am working on a 280AI and need some brass , but I do not want to spend my money on a lesser quality brass..

Thx JP :)

I've used Jamisons brass in my 338LM & 338 Norma Mag and have no complaints...both have over 8 firings on them with primer pockets still tight and brass going strong.

I bought a bunch of their .25 REM starting back about late 2008 when I got my 6HAGAR spacegun upper. Several batches from a couple of different sources, I could tell the batches apart by the depth / diameter of the extraction groove in front of the rim.

Their product worked best for 600 yard loads over the other available parent case, Remington's .30 REM, though case life is short for both primer pocket stretch (this cartridge needs a small primer; the extra brass would go a long way to keeping pockets tight) and case stretch.

The case walls taper to a point about 9/16" up from the case head floor where it then changes to a uniform thickness. Maybe their other products aren't formed up this way but for the .25 REM > 6HAGAR that's where cases tend to stretch despite minimum shoulder bump for re-use. Out of 200 after three or four firings one in four goes into the recycle pail.

I'd buy a minimum quantity to test / examine carefully, see how it behaves over time for your purpose.

Dittos on Steve's post concerning the 25 Rem Jamison brass. I was disappointed in how the stuff held up in my 6 HAGAR spacegun, especially since there was a considerable amount of work involved in forming it into HAGAR cases - and that it had to be neck turned to boot.

I suppose some of the same factors that limited case life with R-P 30 Rem brass when formed into 6 HAGAR cases also apply to the Jamison brass - re: it was never intended to be used at the pressure levels the HAGAR generates. But I had a few cases split in the mid-body area, where there was very little to no change in case dimension due to forming HAGAR brass. Perhaps Jamison brass made for higher-pressure chamberings will stand up better than our 25 Rem brass did - I'd buy a small quantity and find out before committing to a larger purchase.
