Yet another world record falls to the diminutive 6BR case... this time in 22 Dasher wildcat form.

New 600-yd 5-shot record of 1.190" shot by our friend James in TN. Done with a Mike Bryant-smithed 16-lb "light gun" shooting in IBS "Heavy Gun",unlimited weight class). The target,100% scale on 17" screen):

The load for my 22 dasher is as follows: Lapua cases weighed to within .5 grns Sierra 80 grn moly coated bullets weighed measured and spun on my Juenke Machine, Federal 205m primers weighed to exact weights 36.0 grns of Hodgdon H-4350.

The load used for the St Louis Match is my loads I had worked up in 85 deg temps for matches over in NC. The stats of the load is 3400 fps with an ES of only 7 fps and absolutely "0" runout. Please don't duplicate this load as it may be unsafe in your rifles. Attached is the photo of the rifle used.

They went in around .800 for the 4 shots I just can't seem to keep all 5 in one knot always have a flyer.

My Goal next season is to shoot 5 under 1" I know I can do it just got to catch everything just right.

good--that is the EXACT number i guessed when a fellow on another board said 1/4". BTW--I think your group will stand for awhile ;) JB

JB,

What other board is this being discussed on? I'd like to go lurk.

[Moderator: James, you'll find it on www.snipershide.com, in the Competition forum]

I had actually shot another record last weekend as well using the same rifle but changing out the barrel for the LG class The score is a 55 with a group of 1.514" this record was shot using my 6.5-284 with the CR bullets.

I'd like to think or hope they both hold up for some time The 55 may get broken with a smaller group, I do agree that the group record will be tough to beat but my goal is to break the 1" mark at 600 next season. I did miss the first 2-4 matches for 600.

James, what twist and what make of barrel are you using in the 22 Dasher?

It's a Hart 30" 8 twist in Hart's 1000 yard contour. Congratulations James, very good shooting!!

James,

Can you give me your thoughts on moly?

Have used it for several years in 17's, but am interested in knowing why folks use it in competition. Does BC increase? Do you do if for cleaning reasons? Etc.?

BTW, that is some mighty fine shooting. Simply amazing.

Rich, and thanking you in advance for the bullets!!) in VA

Hi James,

I was on another board and a guy didn't believe anyone shot that group. I told him I not only watched it develope in the pits but I signed the target at the end of the day. The next time you have to shoot with your eyes closed!!
