IWI Zion 15

I have an IWI Zion 15 rifle. I noticed it was slinging brass against the deflector pretty hard and makes an odd sound returning to battery. I asked IWI what would they suggest as far as a buffer weight, buffer spring or possibly a lighter ejector spring. They said it was under gassed and to try using 556 ammo. I told them I reload with 55gr fmj a little below max suggested charge. The response was "We don't recommend using reloaded ammo. Try a box of 556 ammo and see if it functions correctly." I'm going to try an H2 buffer and see if that helps.

A heavier buffer will make it worse if your shooting light loads.id stay h1 carbine buffer or up your powder charge.
You need to look up AR ejection pattern.a heavier buffer might cause short stroking if I'm reading your post correct.
Your gonna have brass marks on receiver but look at where they are falling

Right now the brass is ejecting about the 5-5:30 position. I’m gonna try a heavier buffer just to see if it makes a difference. My Colt LE6920 doesn’t hit the deflector at all and ejects at about the 4:00 position. I know the brass deflector is there for a reason, hence the name, but it bothers me it hits it.

Yeah your barrel has slightly over sized gas hole and considered over gassed as with most ar's
Heavier buffer will not help

If your brass is ejecting at 2:00 a heavier buffer will help
