It’s That Time Again, Making My Thanksgiving Dressing

This “labor of love” is something I do every year. We cook half of it for Thanksgiving, and freeze the other half for Christmas.

It always disappears, so I guess everybody likes it.

We will probably have at least 30 friends and relatives over.

I forgot to add, cook at 375 until it is ready, probably about 2.5 hours.

My Mother-in-law is putting on the dog again this year. She is 94 and just lets us attend. About eighteen of us this year. My bride is tasked with making two large Cherry Cheese Cakes. There is a tremendous smell wafting out of the kitchen as I type.

Best Thanksgiving to all...

I do love me some dressing no matter the time of year! And that looks like it's gonna be off the chain GOOD!!

Yesterday I made the cornbread for mine which is a tad different. I make hot sausage dressing with hot pork sausage. I reckon every other ingredient is pretty much traditional. Today I'll be making 2 pans and tomorrow possibly another.

Our stuffing is maybe a more northern US traditional, with seasoned croutons, cooked wild rice (in chicken stock), fresh herbs, diced apples, fresh cranberries (cut in half), pecans, pine nuts, raisins and crasins. Kind of a fall harvest themed dressing. It is exceptional and every year just a little different as I kind of wing it….oh, and melted butter, a fair bit:)
