It's about time Swarovski... :)

The brand new Swarovski X5 5-25x56 would be the ultimate long range hunting rifle scope IMO. Has all the bells and whistles with a healthy 82 MOA of elevation. Bout time Swarovski gets into the groove of "tacticool" long range hunting scopes for folks that like turret dialing. Really is a work of art - as is expected from one of the world's greatestate optics manufacturers. Here's a link to check it out. Any thoughts?

First thought in my mind is...EXPENSIVE! :)

I was reading about these and the other new scopes they will be coming out with on another forum about 2 weeks ago and yep i am sure they are not going to be cheap. I will be interested in reading some of the reviews after they hit the market.

This is personal, but I won't consider a scope with an objective bigger than 44 for a hunting scope, and I don't dial when hunting.

I have a Z3 and I really want to get a Z5 with a BRH reticle, in fact if I had the cash, (read wasn't spending all my money gun $$ on shooting F-TR) I'd have either Z3s or Z5s on all my hunting rifles, but this one does nothing for me.

The tacticool crowd won't bite because it's not a FFP milling reticle.

Was talking more about the tactical looks.

Once I used a 50 mm scope, I couldn't use anything less. 56mm gets a bit obnoxious on a hunting rifle but its still tolerable to me. The light gathering is just so much better than 40mm or 44mm. Turret dialing for elevation is my preferred method. But I hold on the reticle for windage during a shot.

Ledd,
Probably a really good scope but I'm purty in love with my March 2.5 to 25.

With the Euro trading almost even with the Dollar. I wonder if that will bring down the cost on our side of the pond. Randy

That sure would be nice. The new Swaro X5 scopes are close to the S&B Police Marksman price range so they won't be obtainable for most folks. Hopefully the rise on value of the US dollar helps reduce the cost as you suggest, but looking on some websites that have them it looks like $3K+ is going to be the se price range and Swarovski prices usually stay where they are once set.

A 32 oz scope with a 56mm objective would look out of place be a poor choice on a trim hunting rifle IMHO. I do love their spotting scopes. :)

According to my rep they will be out in September.
The 3.5x18x50 has 116 moa and the 5x25x56 is 82 MOA.
Price range is around $3100-3500 depending on reticle options. Custom turret is available for $199.00.
Both the 3.5x18 and the 5x25 are 1/4 moa and the 5x25 can be special ordered in 1/8moa.

I ordered the 5x25x56 with the plex-I+ reticle which is special order too.

Will post a review when it comes in?

+1, it's pretty hard to beat

Compact, great range of power, great glass, great mechanics and simple without all that idiotic gi joe wanna be crap.

I like the new look of the scopes not because they are "tacticool" but because they are functional.

I've had two of the 5-30x50 and they are excellent hunting scopes, second to none. However, I sold them both because I'm now into F/TR and they weren't suitable. Now I have two March 10-60x52 and I'm pretty satisfied with them.

It would be nice to see Swarovski enter the target market, because it may bring some of the benefits of competition. However, I don't think that's likely. It seems that they've decided to split the markets and not compete against one another.
