It's a first for me!

Got out tonight and I just made it up to the end of the Farmer's yard and I spot one at 184 yards. It's one the Farmer has put out a "contract" on with me. I am caught out in the open and have to shoot "Free Standing" using my Tripod as a rest for the Forearm. Couldn't go Prone due to the terrain and it's shots like this when the 1 lb. Jewel really helps! Shot looked good and heard the pop of the A-Max finding body cavity! The Farmer's Shepard goes crazy as usual and starts off in the direction of the Chuck. He and his young female pup start hunting and sure enough find it. I had to cross two electric fences and by the time I get there the only thing left looked like a leg that the big male had no intention on giving me! No photo, no weight guys, sorry. I guess the biscuits I gave them when I arrived didn't fill their stomachs! Got a photo of it's mound for #15's confirmation!

LOL. That's a good one, MrM. Reminds me of two of my farmer friends' dogs. They bring my kills back to the yard to munch on.

That was a heck of a shot at that distance, good job. I bet the farmer was happy!

I had a farmer ask me to shoot a big groundhog in one of his a soy bean fields, I got him but the farmer didn't tell me there was a mean holstein bull in with his cows in the pasture field I had to cross. That joker almost got me too, chased me right up to the fence and thankfully stopped there. Good thing too, I would have hated to have buy him a bull, lol!

Alan, I had a similar experience when I was much younger. I never cleared a fence so quickly!

When are you going to post some more groundhog hunting videos?

It should be soon according to our top notch one man film crew, my son Potatoe.

Thanks for asking!

As teenagers we used to hunt a farm that was a mixture of woodlots and small pastures in NE Pa. The holstein heifers and young bulls on that place sent me running a few times. Dang thing is the young heifers would bolt like wild oxen and the young bulls would square up for a fight when they saw you. Pretty fast runners through woods and over old stone walls. It was an awesome ghog spot til tall the farmers grand kids got to hunting age.............
