When a business does more than they say they will do. I want to give the business a big shout out. During my research on the internet to have a rifle re-barreled & re-chambered I discovered Ted's Custom Shop in Weatherford, OK. Telephone #(580)774-8726. After several conversations with Ted I took a chance & sent my Circa 1972 7X57 Ruger Model 77 to be re-chambered to a 280 Ackley & re-barreled, retaining the original wood stock. Notes on the prosses:
(1) Ted did not malign my Ruger action. (2) I chose a BRUX 24'Stainless barrel #3 contour. (3)Ted did not attempt to talk me into a new stock. (4) Ted did the following: opened barrel channel to accommodate #3 contour Brux barrel, free floated & drilled stock out to lighten it. Installed new Pachmeyer recoil pad, took 1/2" off stock length, sqauared receiver face, lapped lugs, chamber work, cera koted the new barrel & receiver then installed the barrel. Also, to my surprise, Ted jeweled my bolt (at no exra charge). All this work for under $1,000. & this included the Brux barrel. AND he delivered the rifle back to me on time! After the bartrel break in: The best 5 of 10 shot groups at 100 yards, using 140 NOS BT, 139 HORN SST & various powders. 0.536, 0.401, 0.367, 0.634, 0.238 equaling an avg. of 0.435. Kudos I'm 74 yrs old 10/11.
