I know very little about this type of competition.
The participants are referred to as “athletes”. As a 78 year old Short Range Benchrest Shooter, I would say I am about as far from being an “athlete” as you could be.
Is there an equipment list and course of fire for the 300 meter center fire rifles? I have gone to several Sites and none are specific.

This is typical prone and 3 position shooting with a sling and shooting jacket. Prone is it's own event. We shoot 60 shots in 50 minutes with a 6mm br. No lense and lots of international restrictions.
3 position is standing, kneeling, and off hand on a 4 inch 10 ring at 300m. It is super challenging without optics or heavier calibers.
ISSF has about a 100 page document with all the rules. It gets criptic. When you transition to international level it is always more interesting.
300m was an Olympic sport until sometime time in the 70s. Very popular in Europe and Scandinavia.
What equipment are you interested. I plan to shoot a BAT action in an Anschutz stock. Europe seems to prefer Grunigs.
