ISO 338 Lapua Improved

Does anyone know of a 338 Lapua Wildcat that can be fire-formed to a 30-deg shoulder, but still retains the same body taper of the orginal cartridge?
Everything I've found so far blows the body out some also.

Thanks,

Andy

I would go with 35 or 40 degrees on shoulder. Mainly because of brass flow. Also I feel they are really more accurate because of the way the gasses are funneled. If you are going to need custom dies why not Improve the case to take advantage of capacity. That extra 100 feet or so means a lot when stretching it out. As a good example my buddy shot his 338 with a 300 grain bullet at almost 3300 and I shot mine at 3000, at 1378 yards he had 3 MOA less wind drift. He was at 3 minutes and I was at 6. That is a big difference. Matt

The beauty of the improved Lapua is the combination of shoulder angle / position and removing the huge amount of body taper which is a considerable gain in boiler room. Personally the removal of the body taper in most attractive part to me. I shoot a 338 Norma over a Lapua, and if I ever want more it will definitely be an improved Lapua blown out, stuffed full of R-33 and with a 300 grain seated out above the junction.

Get the Ackley Improved and you won't be disappointed. I'm still using the brass that I bought when I first got the rifle 8 years ago and it's been reloaded 20 times. I anneal my brass every 3 firings.
