Is Barrel Cooling Fan Legal in F-Class?

I'm considering using a fish tank aerator as a barrel cooling device on my F Class rifle. A simple piece of air tube shoved into the receiver and air passing through.
The unit is only $8 and runs 20 hrs on 2 AA batteries.

The question is if doing so would violate the rules about electronics on the firing line. I see some guys with electric fans??

Im pretty sure your ok, I see lots of barrel coolers on the line, and CMP will allow a phone for scoring, but the shooter cant be on the internet, but the scorer can. At Perry last year you could see the shooters shot on the phone on line, before it showed on the monitor. rules are confusing about this and not consistent. CMP allows the garmin, but not the NRA.

some people use air mattress inflators- dont think any electronics in them but mabie

This my solution. I use with a 20000mA power cell.

The pump from Amazon, the hose I already had, and the cartridge is a 6.5 Creedmore with the primer pocket drilled out. I will be doing the .223 and .308 cases too.

I Haven't shot f class in years, but I would use my big Milwaukee tools fan till I was told not to.

I once tried Co2 and a makeshift bore guide. Did GREAT......But.... BAD idea if you live up north during those hot summer evenings. I have never seen SO MANY mosquitos assemble SO FAST. I literally jumped in my pickup and went home for an hour and left everything on the bench. Of course, i have a private range.

Thanks for that. I am going to print one out and try it.

CO2. Yes, that's how mosquitos find their hosts is CO2. I would not have thought of that when using such a tool though. We used CO2 for cleaning optics, but, that was indoors :) Come to think of it, we had an industrial mosquito 'killer' and it was fed with a CO2 bottle. Very effective. :)

To answer the OP's question , NO ! Barrel fans are not illegal to use in F Class ! Been using one for five years now with no issues , and it is almost a requirement in Arizona , even in some of the cooler months . I painted mine Bright Orange and it replaces my Chamber Indicator when needed !

I have Co2 tanks that I use when "jeeping" to air up tires and run air tools. I doesn't take much flow to ice up the outside if the air hose, so my little brain put 2 and 2 together. It worked great, till that 2 and 2 were joined by 4 million!!

"....may communicate...via hard-wired or wireless...devices"

"...may not transmit over a radio frequency..."

Wireless means a radio. So, you can use one...but...you can't. :) Maybe they think bluetooth is not a radio frequency? :)

Just thought it was funny :)

Well at the SWN a year ago or so I was told to turn my Barrel Cooler off as people could hear it?
It's the little Red unit many have.
I need Hearing Aids and with my Plugs in for Shooting ! I can't hear much.

Why CO2 and not just air tanks? The density helps?
Co2 is a liquid in the tank. With one 40 lb tank I can air up thirty to forty 40+ inch tires from 5 PSI to 20 PSI on one tank. i can run air tools for way longer than you want to be using them. A comparable air tank wouldn't air up 1 tire and wouldent run an air tool for 1 min. Also, an air compressor, is SLOW, heavy, and expensive.

Here is a tank mounted on my old Bronco. It was free from an old Coke fountain pop dispenser. Just bought a 4000 PSI pressure gauge and a regulator from POWER TANK and was in buisness.

Yes. Mosquitoes are attracted to CO2

The MagnetoSpeed RifleKuhl is the single most annoying gun product ever invented. It should be banned worldwide lol.

I will never forget the first year these came out. I was at a 2 day PRS match in June and they were everywhere. I think there were 3 or 4 in my squad alone. I am glad these have gone out of favor at the ranges I frequent.

Yes, it would violate 3.22 (b) to be on the firing line. That certainly does NOT mean you can't use it while your rifle is in a rack off the firing line though. And they work much better if the rifle is vertical anyway. I started with a fish tank aerator before any of the 3d printed jobs existed, prob 2007-2008 - they work great.
