I can't get 129 Hdy spire points above 2700 through a 18" bolt gun without running into pressure so I'm betting your up there. Factory ammo may also have the luxury of using proprietary, blended powders that we might not have the ability to use. So it's hard to guess across a keyboard

2945 -240= 2705 fps. NOSLER data.

Pressure could be very different by changing just 1 component.

This was the result of using FC factory loads last year. We could barely work the bolt. Sent the picture to Federal and they responded that they felt it looked OK!

Some Federal factory loads can be fairly hot because with virgin brass you can get away with it without any harm for 1 firing.

Many folks think a bolt gun might produce a little more velocity with same length barrel as a gas gun. But from my experience this is not the case. At least not with barrels that are 16" to 20" that I've tested.

I assume 2,740 fps with the 130 otm out of a 16" barrel would make around 63,000 to 64,000 psi.
AR-10 frame AR's work best between 55,000 and 58,000 psi. and a bolt gun should have no problems with 63,000 psi at the expense of shorter brass life.

I have several 260 Remingtons in bolt actions, and the loads that work well in them are way too hot to shoot in my ar10.

The velocity seems high for a 16" barrel with factory ammo.
I would confirm with another crono.

While not the same, I have a Criterion chrome lined 5.56 barrel (maybe a .223 Wylde, I can't remember). 18", 8 twist, rifle length gas. It pushes 77gr SMKs at 2,700 with H4895 and 55gr Blitzkings at 3,000 with H335. Both of those are about 200 FPS faster than what the Sierra book shows for a 20" service rifle barrel at the given charge weights.

Now that I type this, it seems unrealistic. I'll strap my MagnetoSpeed to it again next time out.
