Is there a FACTORY RIFLE calibre 6.5mm x 47mm lapua

Accuracy International, DTA or I believe Cooper offers a 6.5x47.

Cooper model 54 comes in a 6.5x47

Take a look to http://www.keppeler-te.de/cms/pages/englisch/sport/free-rifle.php
and also

probably this one also have one in 6.5x47 but they don't show it in the catalog.

My two cents.

I was 99% sure that RPA (Rangemaster Precision Arms) of Tonbridge, Kent in the UK would offer this chambering as it's so popular here in GB as a multi-purpose range / medium deer / 'foxing' cartridge and some RPA models are very much geared to this niche. But no, there is nothing listed in the cartridge as a standard option. (.260 Rem is offered in some models.) RPA either offered it in the past or the 6.5X47L RPAs I've seen around are special order jobs or rebarrelled from something else.

So far as European factory rifles are concerned, it seems that the cartridge has become like 6mm BR Norma - a special order option or a semi-specialised barrel option for some makers' heavy-barrel target models, only in some respects less so as the latter are designed to provide an off the shelf 3-position ISSF match rifle and the 6.5 hasn't made serious inroads on the 6BR's dominant position in this discipline. Another possibility was the German manufactured Unique Alpine whose quick-change barrel system rifles are offered in a larger range of calibres than many covering 223 Rem to 338LM, but no again - 6BR as a single-shot barrel option but no 6.5X47L.

This raises the interesting question as to the cartridge's future with only one manufacturer producing cases and no factory rifles. Knowing Lapua, I've no doubt that the company will continue to support the cartridge almost indefinitely, but we live in an uncertain world so far as manufacturers go. (The UK steel industry is currently in crisis with companies that looked completely secure a couple of years ago going under daily!) I reckon we'll see the 6.5mm Hornady Creedmoor take over from .260 Rem over a long period and eventually become the dominant small / mid-size multi-purpose 6.5 number.

There are factory produced 6.5X47L AIs - I shoot alongside an owner of one in the UK every so often, but they are as rare as hen's teeth. This fellow got his only because AI had accepted a substantial order from a non-UK military or LEO outfit and sought out would-be civilian owners to be able to increase an otherwise one-off 6.5mm barrel order. The company may have since added the chambering, but looking at AI's home and AI-USA websites, there is no mention of it.

Thanks Boxcar77,
I have had the pleasure of shooting this calibre several times and it is just great, extremely accurate, even at 1000 yards. The Cooper rifles are amazing looking but not sure how difficult it would be to get them proofed in the UK. Have shot the DTA but only in .308, and the AI, absolutely, but I don't think my budget will stretch to 7k - assuming.
Regards,
Hawk.

Can I assume that the "AI" in your description is Accuracy International and NOT Ackley Improved!!

Correct. Mention 'AI' apropos a longarm in the UK and everybody knows what it stands for. With AI also naming its models by two-alpha designations, so 'AI AE', ..AW, .. AT, .. AX etc, etc I get thoroughly confused by it all not being an Accuracy International owner or aficionado. :)

Not sure if you guys get the Sabatti tacticals over there? Very very popular in x47 over here in SA now

That's interesting - I'd never heard of the Sabatti tactical range before. I've very occasionally seen Sabattis in our (UK) shops, a cheap .22 semi-auto rifle, a fair number of budget shotguns, and some very basic (and to be honest pretty unattractive) sporting rifles mostly in 308 and 243 sold under the Sabatti (FIAS) label which had trouble selling even at giveaway prices.

Doing an Internet search, it seems that a somewhat better range is being stocked by a few gunshops under the Sabatti Rover name now including the 'Rover Tactical' with laminate or synthetic stock options at good prices but in a very limited number of calibres. It might prove possible therefore to order one of the other 'Tactical' models and/or a 6.5X47L chambered version.

Must admit that I inferred the "6.5X47L AIs" as accuracy international as oppose to a wildcat developer.

Rifle from a forum member on a different forum, the synthetic version is also very popular
