Is Remington .260 brass it?

I can't seem to find any brass besides Nosler and Remington for the .260. Is this accurate? Do you guys mess with making your own or just buy the Remington or Nosler? I was thinking about Re-sizing lapua .308 brass but didn't know weather or not all that is necessary. Thanks for any insight. Jeff

I had a brain fart for a moment. that is exactly what I had planned in my mind. I don't know why I said .308. so the Remington brass is junk then? Jeff

The Remington brass is not junk. Many 260 Rem shooters use it. But I found you had to sort it and I had to use 3 different neck bushings or turn the necks.

Necking up .243 Lapua or Norma has its pitfalls too. When I did that, for a factory chamber with lots of taper, and excess clearance at neck-shoulder junction), I got wicked doughnuts after 2nd/third firing. The doughnuts were so bad I couldn't seat a bullet short enough to chamber. Solution was inside neck reaming and outside neck turning. Other folks, with a tighter custom-reamed chamber, haven't had such bad issues with necked-up .243 brass, but I found it frustrating enough that I sold my .260 bbl, fitted a 6BR tube and never looked back.

If you plan on pounding on the .260 and reloading it a bunch of times, just bite the bullet and get Lapua .308.

i'd buy some nosler brass before remington. jst depends on what your wanting to do with it. for a hunting gun the remmy brass will work out jst fine. if your wanting less the 1 M.O.A. i'd go with any of the alternatives.

I ran across this ad today for Norma .260 brass from Midway.

Buy Winchester 7MM-08 brass and neck it down to 260. It shoots as well as the Lapua and is very good brass. I am on my 5th loading so far and no problems.

I picked up a bunch of Remington 260 brass. Over all it was pretty good- trimmed to length and most of it was pretty even weight wise. The only down side is that I threw out a bunch of it because the flash-holes were not centered in the primmer pockets (76 of 500 not centered so I didn't want to use it).

I purchased 500 qty. Win 7mm-08 brass when Midway had a sale back in May. Necking down is very easy and you won't have the donut issues as with necking up the Lapua. I use a Redding bushing die with two step reduction process (0.300 first then 0.290 second). The neck thickness is about 1.5 thousands per side less than Lapua, but pretty consistent at 0.2915" to 0.292" overall with a Berger 130gr VLD seated. Weight was also consistent with very little culls. Brass life is TBD, but should hold up pretty well as most other Win brass.

I'm in the .243 Lapua necked up camp, but I don't bother to turn donuts as my bullet OAL combo misses them.
