Is mushroom hunting season here yet?

Has anyone been Morel hunting yet this spring? Expecially in the midwest around southern/central Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky and so on? We have had some good rain the past 2 weeks and a solid week or more with high temperatures over 70 degrees and the past 3 days with a high almost to 80 degrees. If the shrooms aren't popping up yet they should be any day now. I have all weekend off work and im trying to decide on shooting my new .308 OR get my boys out in the woods and put em to work mushroom hunting ;D

They are usually up in my yard before they are in the woods by around 2 weeks earlier. I have 3 little ones up and that's it. Not much to chew on there. It doesn't really get going unti it hits the 80's for a couple days. Central Missouri

Some around here used to hunt the cows hit mushrooms for big money. Additive in cow feed wiped them out
