Is anyone using the new Sierra 180gn 7mm?

I have picked up a box of the new Sierra 7mm 180gn bullets. So far, they look good, not as long and pointy as the 180 Bergers, but still look good. How have they been shooting for you? Do they prefer jumping or jammed in your rifle? (I know all barrels are different.
It will be a few months until I use my 284 next so I cant work on loads yet.

As you rightly say... all barrels perform differently...

I have been using them this season, 66g RL 25 and just touching

I'm running mine 10 thou into the lands behind 66.5 grains of RL25 in a 7WSM.

I did a test at 900 yards against the 180 Berger vld and there was very little in it (other than price) The Berger held a slightly better vertical by about 1/4 MOA, but once the Sierra's are pointed they should be equal, I will let you know after the weekend as I'm using the Sierra's for the first time in a 1000 yard F class competition.

HA,
no 6mm Crusader for Blair Atholl then Ian?? (Probably, very wise if I may say say so - but who knows there may be a once in 500 year flat calm up there!)

I hope the 180gn SMKs work - I have a good number sitting in Mr Fox's emporium at Diggle with my name on them despite not having a 7mm rifle yet or even decided on the cartridge I'll use when I do get there. (Being a glass-half-empty type, I reckon US components and bullets can only get dearer here in real terms in the future, so buy when prices look good even if I don't need them right away.)

Laurie

PS I'll bring a CD-ROM of all the short-range meeting images to Blair - saves sorting them out and emailing.

Those of you who are using the new Sierra, have you experimented with seating depth, or did you just load and shoot at the depth you are running them? Did they seem insentitive to seating depth?

HI Laurie, up until a few days ago I was still considering the 6mm Crusader for Blair, having seen the weather forecast for this weekend absolutely not! but I would like to shoot against the 7mm's at 1000 yards but in better conditions.

CR500, I didn't do any tests with seating depths as I'm half way through a 7WSM barrel that was chambered for the Berger vld. I figured that with the Sierra being shorter I would need to seat it further into the lands, I was right. A friend and fellow F class shooter is using the Sierra's in his .284 and I believe he has a 10 thou jump, we both found that there was a big accuracy node in load development.
