Is anyone shooting Palma anymore?

Hi All-
I have been out of shooting since 2017 (Palma, mid and long range). I recently started reading some of the forums again, and I don't see anyone discussing Palma competition. Is anyone shooting conventional prone competitions anymore?

thanks

-jP

Yes.
There will be lots of TR (sling & irons) shooters at the SWN. In my area (central California), you can attend a prone match including some Palma matches, at least two weekends a month, and often more.
The USNRT is alive and well, and our Palma team will be competing at Bisley for the world Palma championship in 2028, as well as shooting many matches before then.

Do not know where you are located, CIHPRS has Palma for MR and LR at Camp Atterbury if you're around the Midwest, we could always use more sling competitors. https://cihprs.wildapricot.org/

Planning a trip across the country next month to shoot some Palma at Southwest Nationals in Phoenix.

Edit to add- l see you are from Florida. Port Malabar on the space coast has some nice prone matches in March. Orange Blossom regional. Bring you A game. Some pretty good iron sight scores get put up by the Palma shooters.

John,
You still hold that Natl record?

Hi Alan, I had to go to the NRA website to check/verify. Interestingly so, and according to them, I still do. I had expected some "hot shot" to have surpassed it by now.

You have been well?

Well I haven’t fired a shot since September because I broke myself but while I heal up I’ve been busy putting together a few new Palma rifles for customers and building a new 223 for myself. The discipline is definitely still alive! We need more ppl to embrace the personal challenge, it is rewarding!

Does the "rebuild" of your elbow constitute artificial support? :)

Poogie, miss you my friend.

Poogie, miss you my friend.

Is anyone? - yes. But the participation numbers are dramatically lower. Nothing like the good 'ol days. It is sad.

Hi Lane!
I am moving to NC in June and camp butner will be about an hour away. Maybe I will drop by and see how things are going. I had a shock recently when I went looking for supplies and saw the cost of bullets and powder!

I dabble in Palma a little bit. My oldest son is getting on the USNRT Under 25 team. He's 18 now, but been messing around with Palma some since he was 15. He's been XTC shooting since he was 12.

Mike Halsey running the knobs for him at a team match at Central Carolina Gun Club this past November.

Looks like he needs left handed coaching knobs for his sight. I'll be home next week, if you'll PM me your address I'll send you some.

He's got a LH Warner on there. Can't see it on the top photo due to the floppy hat. Thanks, though!

Love the Barnard action. Is that a different trigger? I love my Barnard trigger.
