Is 22 magnum ammo still hard to find?

I have an opportunity to take a 22mag in trade. I haven't had one for a while but I've had several in past years. I like the cartridge but worry about having the rifle with no ammo.

I found three boxes about 6 months ago and that's the first I have been able to find locally since 2008.

Locally here in lil ol possum gulch it doesn't exist. BUT, go to the big city [Salt Lake] and I can find it.. If ya know where to look.

Quite a bit of it locally... Both in CCI Hi-Vel and the "Choot'em" packs. They also have 17WSM, and various 22RF and 17HRM. This is @ Runnings

4 years ago 96.00 a case last year 220.00 a case, so I bought 2. Not sure why I bought it but had to have it. And in need of some more if I could find it. It is my bug out round, 50 grain federals are impossible to find but deadly on bigger game with a well placed shot. You can reload 223 cheaper, but I love my 22 mag.

I developed a shortend 221 fireball that I can load and shoot much cheaper than 22 rimfire mag. I would not allow much on a 22 rimfire mag trade. The cheapest I have seen recently was $17.XX for 50

They were like $10.99 per 50 in November when I looked.

I sold my 22 magnum this year because I couldn't find the ammo that shoots well out of my gun. It was very picky. Since then I bought a 17 WSM and I can find ammo all over the place. I will never buy another 22 magnum. The 17 WSM is far superior ballistics wise, ammo is available even for a new rim fire, and the price of the ammo is almost the SAME as a 22 magnum.
