Sloughhouse Benchrest Shooters held the IR50/50 California State & Southwest Regional Championships at the Sacramento Valley Shooting Center this past weekend, in the heart of the infamous Ione Triangle. Weather was typical this time of year with switchy breezes out of the S-SW, flipping from the SE just often enough to catch you if you weren't paying attention.
First up on Saturday was the State 50 yards which was won by the invader from the north Dennis DiFeo with a sparkling 748-47x, followed closely by Dan Lutke with a 746-47x, with Pierre Bigras 3rd at 744-37x. We moved the frames back to 50 meters as the winds got a little friskier, reflected in the scores. The State 50 Meter was also won by Dennis outdistancing the pack with a nice for conditions 740-37x, Marcus Byrne 2nd with a 732-29x, Pierre 3rd again with a 732-23x.
California State Champion for the 3rd year in a row is:
Dennis DiFeo with 1488-84x,
Pierre Bigras 2nd at 1476-60x,
Marcus Byrne 3rd with a 1472-62x.
Sunday morning started off fairly mild, and once again our favorite Oregonian took the SW Reg 50 Yard with a beautiful 749-50x, (sorry Dennis it just wouldn't plug),
followed by Pierre with a 747-41x, Dan Lutke 3rd at 746-44x. Moved the frames to 50 Meters and things really started to get interesting as the Ione Triangle winds sought to take their revenge. Nothing could stop Dennis though from making it a clean sweep, as he took the SW Reg Meters as well, this time with "only" a 743-34x,
although he did shoot the only 250 card at meters. Dan Lutke finished 2nd with a 738-32x, Pierre 3rd at 731-17x.
Southwest Regional Champion is:
Dennis DiFeo with 1492-84x
Dan Lutke 2nd at 1484-76x
Pierre Bigras 3rd with 1478-58x.
Thanks to all the participants for coming out and shooting with us, Dan for running the match, Greg for scoring & rebuilding the frames, and all the others who contribute to making these shoots a fun event. No match in October, hope to see everyone in Nov.
