Iowa 1000 Yard range shut down for this year

We are letting everyone know that we have had to shut down and move from our range after the landowner passed away since the family does not want to rent the property out any more. We are thankful they let us stay and run our matches through the June 2010 Iowa State Championship match, but we were unable to get them to extend us any more time.

We are still in the process of trying to get a new range put together in partnership with Brownells, but this is taking much longer than anticipated. So right now it does not look like we will be holding any more matches in 2010 since Brownells has not been able to get started on their range yet.

If things change, we will let everyone know, but for now we have notified IBS to pull the remainder of the Iowa 2010 matches off the IBS schedule.

Hopefully we will be able to continue with the range at Brownells as planned, but we’re not sure if and when that will be ready since this is quite an undertaking and much planning and funding needs to be figured out yet to do it the way it needs to be done.

But if everything does go through as planned, this has the potential to be a superb range layout to shoot on and hold matches for a number of shooting disciplines at. We’ll keep you informed once we know more.

Thanks!

having the range at brownell's would be a better place for the range i think--more centralized. I live up in anamosa and that was the only thing from keeping me from going to a match and getting registered--distance.

I can't imagin 15 - 20 extra miles to Pella can keep anyone from a match......I have been traviling 1600 miles + round trip to shoot at Pella.....1000 miles plus to shoot at Harris. 15 miles....really???

Just wondering. ???

part of my problem is also the fact that i work in a maximum security prison and my days off are in the middle of the week. actually, i don't know what days off are like due to understaffing, so i am constantly working. i have talked to my local gun club--izak walton, and have requested some type of competative shooting--besides trap--but, no luck. we could have some benchrest matches, as we have 50, 100, 200, and a 300 (354 yd) yard berm.
