gentleman came into the gunshop where I work . he brought a rifle he had told me about but one i had not seen before.
Remington xp100 action with a rear trigger , single shot, blue
221 fireball caliber with a very heavy barrel around 22 inch mark , also blued
the stock was the really interesting part.
thumbhole flat bottom 2.5 or 3" wide forearm. wenge grip cap and forearm tip. the wood was nice but the bolt cut out and the safety cutout were poorly done. looked like it was done after the initial build. like it was not inletted for this action originally. I may be able to salvage it , don't know yet as he has not given me a price yet.
my question is CHOATE is stamped above the caliber marking on the barrel. it this the same choate machine and tool that makes the plastic stocks or a completely different gunsmith form a while back?
