Installing "Tight" fitting scope rings

What is your best method to install tight fitting scope rings? By this I mean slipping the top half of the ring onto the scope without marring the finish. The best example I can think of is Weaver. I use a piece of paper between the cap part and the scope body. Any other ideas?

Ive seen people stick the short side of an allen wrench in one hole on either side using them as handles to spread the ring apart. I had a set of Leupold rings that were tight like that. I just dont use rings that are tight like that anymore. Lots of great options out there.

chamfer the rings top n bottom at the split or your gonna dig a ditch in the scope tube,,,chamfer everything that the tube touches,,I even chamfer burris inserts they have a sharp edge...make sure the scope will sit on the bottom ring all the way, if not chamfer
Burris inserts are some kind of polymer. Chamfer if it makes you feel good but they're not gonna scratch the hard anodize on a scope.
