Inside Neck Reaming

I just started necking down 6mmBR Lapua brass to 22BR.I was told that I should ream the inside to reduce the excess amount of brass from going from 6mm to 22 caliber.I looked at the RCBS,Wilson and Foster inside reamers and the process using a case trimmer with a reamer attachment seamed that you could ream off center? Is this the only way or could someone tell me an alternative method that would be more accurate????

Thank you for your help

Inside neck cutting can be very beneficial..provided it's done correctly. I inside bore the case necks on cases where I've pushed the shoulder back and made the new case neck,or part of it) out of what used to be shoulder material, for example and then turn the outside of the neck. This ensures that the case neck i.d. and o.d. are parallel to each other, resulting in better control of the neck tension. I also inside bore the necks of my 30BR cases after I've necked them to .30, for the same reason.

But for a 'no turn' 22BR chamber, I haven't found it to be needed.

Just my 2 cent worth -Al
