So I decided to build a flushing system for the new lathe. I probably don't do enough barrel work to justify having it but I don't really care. For about a week I have been googling high pressure flush systems and reading as much as I can, unfortunately a lot of posts are old and pictures are no longer. I think I will list out what I plan on buying and let some of you experience folks critique what I am buying. The one main question I have is, I want to put a pan under the chuck for the return, for you guys that are doing this I would like to know what you did as far as filtering the chips from going back to the tank. Pictures say a 1000 words so if you have any they would be greatly appreciated.
In picked up a closed coupled gear pump off eBay (Shurflo GCBN33V Carbonator Gear Pump 3/8" NPT 1/2 HP 4.25 GPM) for a good price.
I will get my filtering housing and 5 micro filters long with the pressure relief valve from MSC on Monday. It will be these part numbers.
MSC #37011921 (250 psi relief valve)
MSC # 37022761 ( filter housing)
MSC #37023009 (spun 5 micron filter)
Thinking that i will order this oil tank from Northern tool, was going to build one but figured this would save some time. Northern tool no. 405112
This is a filter that goes in the oil tank on the suction side. Northern tool no. 778639
I will pickup the barb fittings and 3/8 air hose at MSC also. I will weld up a stand for all of this and put it on wheels so I can move it around the garage. I will post pictures as this comes to life. Thanks for all your help.
