Inletting an Anschutz aluminium stock

Has anyone ever altered an aluminium stock to fit a centerfire action. I am going to be adapting one to fit a barnard action.

Anschutz make an adapter block so that their older round action can be fitted to a stock designed for their newer square actions. Could i just machine a block up like this, or would it be better to try somehow to machine the stock itself.

The easiest option would just be to epoxy bed the action to the stock.

Any ideas, comments, suggestions??

Thanks for your help
