Initial Load development..to anxious?

MDQ here--I am anxiously awaiting the arival of my rifle and I want to do something while I wait. It should be here anywhere from 2 wks to 2 mos.
I was wondering if it is worth while to do an initial load workup based on the dimensions of the factory 6.5 x 47 ammo I have, only messing with charge wt.
Is this a waste of components? Is it better to wait to get the OAL after I have the rifle and start the charge work up based on seating into or .010 off the lands? Or does one get useful data as well as some fireformed cases doing it this way. From what I have read the Lapua ammo is quite accurate, does anyone here have any field data to back that up?
Thanks again

You can load you ammo and seat the bullets long. When you measure your chamber, re-seat them to proper seating depth.

There is a lot of info on the "47" out there to support it's accuracy claims, you will not have any issues with accuracy if barrel is of good quality and has been properly chambered and crowned.

I've been guilty of wanting to get ahead many times before too. All I can say is I've either had to pull bullets, or had sub par fireform loads. My last rifle rechambered was a case in point. 6×47L chambered with the same reamer as my shooting partner used (2nd chamber cut with it), and mine takes a grain less powder. Different barrels for sure, but man what a difference a grain of powder makes.

Personally, I would wait until that rifle is in my hands unless you have another rifle chambered with that very same reamer (and even then due to differences in barrels, I'd still wait).

Just my opinion here........

I see where Eric Cortina replied to your post while I was typing mine. I would take his advice especially where he has stated to do your initial work up @ 100 and over a chronograph (in his popular post about 100 yard load development).
