Info on H-240?

Does anyone have any info on Hodgdon H-240. Reloading data? When was it discontinued. I ran across some and couldn't find and info on it. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve.

If you were to say what caliber you want to use it for, I or some of the others on this forum may be able to help! I myself have the Speer manuals to number one. I have some others as well. Help us help you!

I guess i was pretty vague. I came across a large amount of H-240 and i was curious what it was good for, and wanted to know at least how old it may be. i can't find any info on it in any of my reloading manuals. Hodgdon's help line is closed for the weekend/ holiday. I figure it's a pistol powder, maybe someone out there uses/ used it and can help. I reload,pistol)32 acp, and 45 acp, and, rifle) 6BR, 243, and 22-250. thanks, steve

The information about it being a pistol powder was helpful! I found it mentioned in the Speer manuals up to the fifth edition. That would put it up to at least 1962. By the sixth edition it was gone. That edition is from 1964. There were no specific loads using that powder, but! In the fifth edition it was stated that "The appearance of this powder,Hodgdon H240) is the same as Hercules 2400. Both powders are used in the same type of cases. H240 charges must be reduced 10% below 2400." Emphasis is mine. Hope this helps you out but be careful!! Especially if you do not know how the powder was stored!!

I wonder if sparkyr99 got the information he was looking for? If so a polite thank you might be in order! I'm glad that I collected my set of Speer loading manuals for my own information.

sorry about that dmickey, haven't had a chance to get on the computer till now, I appreciate all the help with my question. It looks like i'm gonna have to buy a new gun so i can use this powder :D .I hope everyone out there has a merry christmas. Again i really appreciate the help. Thanks, steve
