Inexpensive 223 powder

BL-c2. I’ve been buying it for $40/ pound. It meters wonderfully. I just finished a reloading session, showing a friend how to reload 223 plinking rounds. We set the thrower at 26.1 grains and threw 325 charges. Almost every one we checked on the scale was dead nuts on.

For 80 grain, I'd use TAC, 8208, BLC2, Shooters World Match, Varget, RL15, MR2000, 2520, N140

Clearly, faster powders would be better for the 55 grains. I don't have much experience in that weight range.

BLC-2, H335 or Ramshot TAC. None are really cheap anymore, but at least you can find them. BLC-2 is best for heavier bullets. It is my go-to powder for 77 grain SMKs.
These are the three I use for cheap stuff. I also use StaBall Match and 8208XBR for precision loads.

IMR 4895 but I am sure "inexpensive" is the operable word when it comes to powder, the real issue, at least around here is availability.

Fortunately, you are reloading for a caliber that accommodates a wide range of powders and you can get about 280 reloads out of a 1 lbs. canister.

I use a lot of H335, and it’s easy to find right now. Another powder that I got super accuracy from was A2230, but I haven’t checked the price in a while.

Another reason to like H335 is that it’s a great powder in my 6.5 Grendel.

If you want inexpensive powder to load 223 I have bought and load tons of pull down powder from American Reloading. Comes un stock weekly and sells pretty quick bur $160 8lb...

They regularly have BLC2, H335, w748, N133 A2230.....
